Hi everybody, My name is Charlie Keis. I currently live in Duluth, MN which is in northern Minnesota. I am originally from Richfield, MN. Richfield is just south of Minneapolis. I am a junior in college and am studying Social Studies Education. My dream job is to be a teacher and a coach. Right now, I have two jobs. I work at my school's hockey arena as an usher and a ticket taker. Overall, it is a great job, because I get to watch the #1 college hockey team in the nation. My other job is I am a Personal Care Attendent for two boys with autism. This is such a rewarding job because I get to see them grow and I am lucky enough to help them experience what life is like.
Some things that I enjoy doing in my free time are running and other physical activities. Last summer I ran my first half-marathon and loved every second of it. I also enjoy relaxing and reading. My favorite types of books are non-fiction, especially ones that have to do with military or police work.
Other things that are probably important to know are I have been skydiving once and can't wait to do it again someday. It is probably one of the coolest things that I have ever done. I am very close with my family. I have 3 younger siblings. A sister who is 19, a brother who is 17 and another sister who is 14. Both of my parents are extremely important in my life. My extended family also plays an extremely important role in my life. I have over 30 cousins and we are all very close.
I've never been on a mission trip before, but I know that this is right where God wants me. I have always wanted to do and be part of something that is bigger than me. I applied to join the military last year and was denied entry, I thought that it was the perfect choice for me, but after countless talks with God, He guided me to this trip. I am so excited to go and change so many people's lives with everyone going on this trip. I can't wait to meet everyone and become a close group. I'd like to leave you all with one of my favorite Bible verses. "For I the Lord, your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, "Fear not I will help you." Isaiah 41:13.
